About The Event

During the Szwalnia Nowa project, the Szwalnia Theatre will become a support space for artists without a permanent home. As part of the residency, we will explore the work of Karol Barcki, leader of the theatre group aptly named Pomarańcze w Uchu na Skarpie bez Kartki.

The group was founded in February 2006 in Goleniów by participants in workshops organized by the Brama Theatre. It was once written about them: "Perhaps this is one of the few groups of people today who still dream of the unity of an entity called independent art. They truly believe in theatre for ordinary people, by ordinary people."

They have produced: 37 shows and about 12 happenings and about 20 performances, and have won several awards.

As part of Szwalnia Nowa, from November 14th to 16th, we'll see three of their activities, as well as a brand new, premiere, residential activity tailored specifically to Szwalnia. November 14th - Friday, 7:00 PM

Oranges Group - "Smolarek"

November 15 - Saturday, 7:00 PM

Orange Group - "The Deceived"

November 16 - Sunday, 6:00 PM

Pomarańcze Group - "Centerpoint" (performance - residency finale)

7:00 p.m.

Piotr "Jaszczur" Śnieguła - "A concert of pseudo-poetry with vulgar lyrics about hope" (guest appearance)

It is here, in the heart of the country, that they will find balance and a point of reference. Łódź, a city of intersections and encounters, will become their place of activity, the goal of which is to immerse themselves in Polishness.

They will treat the Center not only as a center on the map, but also as a meeting space—a place where different directions, energies, and voices converge. It is precisely within this axis that activities will be undertaken, the most important element of which will be the encounter with the audience. Theatre does not exist in a vacuum—its fullness is revealed only when a shared space for dialogue and experience is created at the center—between actors and audience. Here and now.

Their residency will be a laboratory of balance and exchange. They will grapple with the tension between tradition and newness, locality and universality, individual voice and communal experience.

Details about the event can be found on the Szwalnia Theatre website and social media.

The Nowa Szwalnia project is being implemented thanks to funding from the budget of the City of Łódź.
